SERVING OUR WORLD
South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church cares for those facing challenges in our world. Our decades-long relationship with Haiti and our denominational disaster relief needs offer many opportunities for service and giving.
Interested in global mission opportunities? Contact Shelby Ullman, Chair of Missions-Outreach Ministry, firstname.lastname@example.org.
SMPC members support this mission by sponsoring children, making donations to OFCB, and praying for their success in a difficult environment.
You could have opportunities such as observing the children’s classrooms, helping high school students learn English, visiting the medical clinic and the new agronomy program, walking to a local market, seeing how Haitians live and work, and hiking into the beautiful mountains.
For information on how you can participate in this rewarding experience with our Haitian friends, please contact David Nichols at email@example.com.
About the ministry
The SMPC Missions Committee is primarily concerned with our outreach program to support the OFCB Christian Mission in Bayonnais, Haiti. Our Haiti connection dates from the church's beginnings when Actionnel Fleurisma, who founded the OFCB Mission, lived among us and was one of SMPC's charter members.
The Missions Committee encourages church members to participate in the Haiti student sponsorship program. We ‘sponsor" school children for the sum of $35 per month, the money being is used to pay teachers' salaries, buy supplies, and feed the students a nourishing meal each day - sometimes the only meal they receive.
ALTERNATIVE GIFT MARKET
The Alternative Gift Market, held during Advent, is a wonderful opportunity for year-end giving, and for purchasing gifts honoring family and friends in the form of contributions to worthy local and global missions
