Nursery Letter to SMPC Parents and Visitors

Dear SMPC Parents/Visitors,

How exciting it is to see the abundance of little feet coming into our nursery classrooms!  Our church is growing by leaps and bounds and with the attendance in our nursery rooms remaining high, we are very fortunate to have such a committed and caring nursery staff to care for our children.

In order to help our program be as safe as it can be, the CE committee has in place a Check in/Check out system that is very similar to the one at the YMCA.  Please sign in by writing your child’s name, age, your name, and any allergies or special concerns you would like for us to be aware of.  As you sign in, you will see a number on the line that you write on and that will be your child’s number for that day.  You will receive a card with that number to take with you to Sunday School or Worship.  We will also attach that number to the back of your child (and on diaper bags if applicable).  This card will be color-coordinated according to the age level.  The staff member that works with that age will also have a name tag with the same coordinating color.  When you return, please show your card in order to pick up your child and return it to the nursery staff.  We will match that number with your child’s number on the sign in sheet.  Also, write your initials in the “Sign Out” column when you come to pick up your child.  This will be one extra step that will help the nursery staff, as well as church volunteers, learn your child’s name and help them to keep track of his or her belongings.

As an example, if you drop your child off for three year-old Sunday School, please sign your child in just as you would for the nursery.  If they are the 5th child to sign in, then you will have a number 5 card and they will be marked with a 5 on his or her back.  If you then go to 11:00 worship, they will continue to be number 5 until they are picked up.  Please make a note that if you attend the 8:30 service, you will drop your child off in Room 6 for infants and in Room 10 for all other children no matter what the age.  Because of low attendance during this service, we combine the children into one room to drop off.  If there are many children, we can split off into other rooms if need be.  Our paid staff will be there to care for your child.  For other services, please drop your child off in the appropriate room.  We will have church volunteers that will help in the rooms for the 11:00 service only.

It would also be very helpful if all diaper bags, sippy cups, coats, etc. would be marked with your child’s name.  We appreciate your help in this matter.  Thank you also to those of you who volunteer your time to help care for our children throughout the year.  If you would like to become a nursery volunteer, please contact Lisa Gilleland via email Lsgilleland@aol.com .  If you have any questions about the Check in/Check out process, please feel free to contact Kim Lee or our nursery coordinator Renee Moore.  Thank you for your support as we partnership together to nurture and care for our children.

Grace and Peace,

The CE Preschool Committee
