OFCB Ministries,
Dear Brothers and Sisters at
Greetings to you all in His Wonderful and Holy
Name. A happy and productive
summer vacation to you all.
I
am writing this to you all as a community of Brothers and Sisters in the Lord
in order to thank you so very much on behalf of the Bayonnais
community for the $12,700 that you have given to OFCB Ministries for
Construction.
How
is the $12,700 being used? At first, we were thinking of having a concrete roof
on the existing school building. But, after the calculation, we discovered with
Péré, our builder, that the money could not finish
pouring the concrete roof over the building. There is too much concrete and
rebar needed. So, a new idea came up
about starting building a new foundation for more classrooms in the future,
with the hope that we will get the cinder block walls up with this money.
So,
since June 3rd, several actions have been going on.
1-
School parents have been mobilized on carrying sand and gravel over their heads
for free.
2-
Two tons of steel #4 rebar, 1 ton of steel #3 rebar, 1/2 ton of steel #2 rebar,
3,000 cinder blocks, 250 bags of cement, tying wire and so forth have been
purchased and transported to Bayonnais.
3-
A foundation for the 441 square meter (about 4,740 square feet) building has
been dug. The building contains 7
classrooms, each at 7m X 7m (23 ft x 23 ft, or 527 square feet) and a
porch with 2mx49 (1,050 square feet). The foundation has been dug at 2 ft deep
and 3 feet deep for the pillars. After each 3.5 meters of distance, there is a
pillar. There are 53 pillars in the building and each pillar contains 6 pieces
of rebar (4 #4 and 2 #3). The building
is 160 feet long.
We
will have windows as in the new kitchen, wide enough for very ventilated and
lighted classrooms. The pillars will be like the ones we have at the new church
building. We have a height of 13 center blocs (about 9 feet) and a concrete
beam over it.
We
will keep you posted as we move along.
Thank you so much!

The new building will be located across the soccer
field from the old school building.
Each of the new classrooms will be twice as big as the
old classrooms.
